Wow! We love this place. It has everything and lots more … except a journal. At least we couldn’t fine one, so we started this one!
We drove here from Indianapolis to get out of the city and enjoy the woods. The highlight has been the rock shelter next to the cabin – reminded me of the many unknown areas I used to visit as a boy, most only accessible by foot (if you know where to go). To be able to enjoy that just a short walk from such a fine secluded cabin is something to treasure.
You’ll be interested to know that we tried out our new metal detector in the area near the fire pit – found .31 and only one pull tab (also 3 spent shells). Amazingly clean.
Nobody decorates a cabin like this! We enjoyed every piece. Whether art, furnishings, or house wares, we found good taste everywhere we looked. Hopefully, all who stay here will appreciate and help to preserve this treasure.
When we like a cabin we like to leave something to share with others. It’s not much, but you needed a basting brush. It doesn’t match the other tools, but it is long-handled. Next time we’ll leave something better. We will be back. Oh yes, we are leaving this journal as well. Hopefully others will leave a note.
Looking forward to next time – hope it’s soon.

What was even lovelier than seeing our kids after many months – was being all together in this home away from home.
It was like taking a step back in time without all the hard work and with all the lovely amenities we’re used to. Weather we pass this way again – its hard to say – but we’ll always remember our special time at “Big Rock” – and know that its “Jahovah God that created all things” Heb 3:4

It is hard to believe we have been here a week already. When time fly’s by it usually means things have went well. We have had a nice overview of the area, but by no means seen all we wanted. I guess that means we have plenty to come back too. We have been able go and play all day to return to a comfortable place and wind down – that is all good.

Happy New Year!! I was so impressed when I walked through your cabin door! This place is beautiful. I couldn’t have imagined a nicer place. I am already planning the next trip back.
Patrick and I are here from Indianapolis, looking for a quiet and scenic place to get away. Thank You for opening your cabin for our weekend travels! Best Wishes!

We did two more hikes today – Angel Windows and Sky Bridge. They were both a lot of fun and well worth it. They are two beautiful and cool sites. Like our daughter, Talie, the skylift to Natural Bridge was awesome and a favorite of our trip.
PS: Cherish the Cabin!
OK this place rocks, I want to live here sooooo bad….. Rock on. I am a drummer. I love this cabin, I love the skylift to Natural Bridge, I love the hikes, I love Kentucky!!!

Your cabin was a wonderful retreat – the sound of nature and the pitch blackness of night did freak out our 30 lbs city dog, though we loved it. Walking around the cabin, watching movies (3 musketeer’s x 3 !!), camp fire on a rainy day, sleeping in. The hikes to Natural Bridge, Rock Bridge, Grey’s Arch, Princess Arch, and Chimney Rock were breath-taking. Our kids especially liked creeking and Rock Bridge.
The cabin had everything we needed and we would love to return again someday.

We had such a good time in your beautiful cabin – the minute we walked in it felt like home. The cabin itself is so relaxing and we loved its peaceful surroundings.
We are five siblings who spend a week together each year and this has been one of our best reunions yet. We have never repeated any of our destinations in all these years but thanks to the hospitality of this cabin we plan to make an exception.
Thank you for letting us experience this warm, wonderful home!!

A few words of gratitude for one of our most relaxing, enjoyable vacations. Did 6 out of the 9 on the must do list. I think our favorite was the hike to Rock Bridge, there’s a nice water fall right beyond the bridge, it was awesome! Maybe next time we’ll get to complete the list. Also thanks for allowing our dogs, it’s always nice to include them in on our vacations as you know they are family! We’ll highly recommend your cabin to friends and family wanting to escape all the hustle and bustle of every day life. This place has so much character! Would love to come again soon!

Another great visit to Big Rock. As usual, there is a time warp – we just got here! The new highlight this time was the hummingbirds. Those little guys sure do like your feeder. We will have to get one like that at home. We left those Indianapolis Motor Speedway shot glasses and a book of snapshots. Hope you enjoy. Looking forward to a return visit in Oct.

Just a short note after a short stay. Blessed with some warm weather. Enjoyed as always. Missed the hummingbirds this time – probably already on some island in the south. Enjoyed hearing leaves hit the ground through the silence here (and stars) are awesome. Looking forward to our next visit.

What a refreshing week after midterms at Norte Dame. The hikes, the cabin, the scenery, the fresh air, the fall leaves provided us with unending amounts of pleasure. We had so much fun cooking in the lovely kitchen, making smoke in the firepit, playing games around the couches, warming up in the jacuzzi, and catching up on much needed Z’s. We hope this cabin can provide future resident’s with as much enjoyment and community as it provided us.

Getting to stay in this cabin right before school felt great. And it was a great sight on Natural Bridge, it almost seemed as if you fell off that would be the end of you. It must be great to live here, the trails were great that we went on!!! Everything was just perfect to me! And I would like to say thanks out loud! And if I had a choice to stay longer the answer will be “YES”, but the bad part was nothing. I had a blast, well thanks for letting my family and I stay here it was relaxing.

Even though we lost an hour to daylight savings we still had a good time (haha). The weather was beautiful and we haven’t seen it like this since last summer at our home. The cabin is wonderful. We had a goodtime exploring around outside. We loved being outdoors and experiencing a little bit of Kentucky! Thank you! Everyone said that Miguel’s was great so when we leave here we will be making a stop!

Just wanted to say thanks for a great getaway. What a fabulous gem you have here in the valley. We went hiking the past two days and while we’re all tuckered out, we’re enjoying our restful evenings.
Your art collection is so eclectic! With two artists in our family, we enjoyed talking about it and in some cases, telling stories about some of the pieces. The kids decided that a few of the pieces had “funky ju-ju” that kept away the bad ju-ju.
My parents have a cabin in Minnesota, so this is a great substitute for when we get “homesick” except your place has indoor plumbing and a “dishwasher”.
Thanks again for a great time. Maybe next time we’ll bring the dog after all!!

You have a gem of a place here! We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Highlights included Sky Bridge, Rock Bridge, and Chimney Rock hikes. Our kids loved crossing the suspension bridge – although our dogs hated it!!
The campfire area has left us with lasting memories of warmth, and song!

We’ve been friends for 37 years and this is the first time we’ve been to Big Rock Log Cabin, wow!! This is friggin fantastic!! And the walk on Big Andy …. We can’t wait to stay in your first cabin there. We’ve been to Belize, Guatemala, Italy, ect. And to know that a slice of heaven is this close is remarkable. We will be back every mushroom season and see how you have improved on Kentucky Paradise.

Thanks so much for letting us stay here. It is such a beautiful place. Also thank you for letting us bring our dogs, they absolutely loved it. They went home very tired. Your cabin & surrounding land is gorgeous. We had a good time site seeing and hiking. We will definitely have to come back and stay longer so we can see the rest of the sites. Thanks again so much.
Oh, every time I said “Oh I should have brought this or that”, I found it here at the cabin. Thanks for being so accommodating.

Well, we did eat Pizza! So we got a good start on the “List”. We came to stay at Big Rock and stay we did. We laughed and rocked on the front porch, walked around and through the woods and we probably take back poison oak on the both of us for a memory to last even a few more weeks …. HaHa. But most of all we take back the memories of us together at Big Rock, we did leave out of the drive I believe 2 times while we were here. We just were so happy her we didn’t really want to see the other sites so you know what that means, another trip …. It’s just so Beautiful here and peaceful. Thank you both for sharing this Home away from Home with us. You are very blessed to be able to have a place where you can see one of God’s greatest gifts and how he has placed such beauty upon this earth and to remind us to sit still and listen and look for him in even the smallest thing in life. May God Bless you and your.

Thank you for allowing us to stay on short notice! We hope Carey is recovering well. This has been a wonderful trip and Big Rock is a dream place to stay. After raising four children – Ashlie, 26, Jamie, 25, Billy, 23, and Ben, 20- we are learning to live as empty nesters. This weekend, in many ways, has been our first tentative step to do things without them. Actually, they all decided to do things without us! We had no choice. Ashlie is in N. MN; Jamie in NY, Billy in MI; and Ben decided he liked Purdue better than home this weekend. We had phone service and did manage to talk to most of them. Again Thank You!

Well, we didn’t know hwat to write because everyone before us has covered it! So… Ditto !!!!! We loved the cabin, the art, the fire pit, the hummingbirds too. It has inspired us to consider real estate here and possibly our own beautiful get away cabin.
We are Mother and Daughter and we cannot wait to bring the rest of our family (all the way from California) to see and experience the Gorge and the warm comfortable hospitality of Big Rock Log Cabin.
The art is so eclectic and welcoming we couldn’t quit smiling. (Our favorites are Squeakie and Folk). You might want to let people know where the pieces came from!
Mom and I wanted to leave something behind too, just our dried flower bookmark – but we’re taking some wonderful experiences and memories and we promise to be back.
Thank You Very Much for sharing this.

This trip was planned a year ago by my wonderful husband. It was to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. We are from NC, I had gone home for a week to PA. My father was having surgery I left in August and did not make it back home till October my father got progressively worse I felt so bad not being home for our anniversary, but my husband understood. Thank God my father did get better and I did come home. That is when my husband told me what we were doing next year. It was a trip to Kentucky to stay in the Big Rock Log Cabin! And wow how beautiful!
The location is so peaceful, serene. The cabin relaxing, inviting, homey, and warm. So fun to look at all the art work. So many unique pictures and pieces the mor you look, the more you can find.
We have had a much need vacation and the icing on the cake we could bring our 4- legged baby with us. He hates to be left behind.
So thank you so much for allowing us to come into your home for a few days. We will take away a ton of memories.

Back in January we booked a trip to Gatlinburg, TN, then a couple months later we found Big Rock Cabin, KY on the internet and throught it would be a great place to stay so we wouldn’t have to drive so far. Very relaxing except for 14 year old boy and 41 year old grown man! Still had fun. Loved the rock shelter and private setting.
We are off to TN next! We all loved Big Rock Cabin

We’re glad we chose to come to Big Rock. It aloud us to relax and get to know each other again. Tose fe days away from home, kids, work ect etc was in celebration of our 30th anniv. It was wonderful!! We couldn’t believe how dark it is at hight. The stars were unbelievable. We loved the fire pit!! We went on several hikes but still have so much more to see. Hope to come back maybe with the kids (maybe not). Thanks a lot.

Yikes, this marker is the only pen I can find so I’ll keep this brief! Another inredible trip to the eGorge. Revisited some “old favorites” and explored a couple new trails. Finally mustered up enough courage to take the sky lift down to the bottom after hiking up to natural bridge on the hood’s branch trail and we fought to crowds to see sky bridge. So, two more things from jerrell Goodpaster’s list we can check off. All that’s left is the Kentucky reptile zoo and via ferrata – whatever that is! Does anybody know?? Oh, loved the fireplace!!!!! The cool nights and early ams allowed us ample opportunity to enjoy it.
Thanks
11-13-09 to 11-15-09
Awesome Nov. weather!!! (high 60s, low 70s)
Enjoyed the big-leaf Magnolias and tulip popular’s. The firepit was the highlight of the cabin. We liked that you couldn’t see the cabin from there.
Thanks,

Perfect escape from pharmacy school! Thank You!
12/19/09 – 12/26/09 Christmas
Sat: Morning Don and I left Charleston SC at 5:15 AM. We knew it was going to be a very long trip especially since a big snow had just come through NC, TN, VA, KY. There must have been 500 cars stalled along the road. The closer we got to Kentucky and the roads were very icy and the snow was everywhere. Loved it. We finally made it to the cabin at 05:30 PM (12 hrs). The cabin was such a beautiful sight to see as we opened the door. It was decorated so wonderful with all it’s Christmas decorations. It was so nice to see the beautiful Christmas tree standing there in the corner of the room. We cut the lights on and it just opened our hearts to the Christmas spiri. Everything in the cabin was decorated with very nice crafts, folk art work, antiques, and rustic charm along with the extra Christmas décor. THANKS FOR DECORAING IT FOR US!! WE TRULY APPRECIATED THAT!!
Sunday: We needed groceries so we headed to Stanton which is only about 10 mi up the road. We were headed to Kroger until I saw what I consider a Women’s most exciting and discounted heavenly place to shop for tings for your home or a collectors, antique, bargain shoppers dream: the BLUEGRASS CRAFT AND ANTIQUE MALL, women must see, men you may like it too. (Mountain Parkway exit 22 Stanton, on SE corner of exit).
Monday: We went to Natural Bridge State Park (Sky lift closed for winter) and hiked up to see the Natural Bridge (must see) on the original trail. The snow was still everywhere and I am going to tell you that bridge with all the snow covering it was one of the most beautiful sites I have ever seen. This is something I will never forget or let me say WE will not ever forget.
Tuesday: We hiked to Chimney Top Rock (nice view) and we have to say that was a very easy walk up to it. Very nice view too. When we got there somebody had built 3 snow men around the tops of th overlooks which was very cute. Then right across from there was Princess Arch (very good). We hiked to that one too and it had a neat cave area that I crawled up into and Don took pictures. We left there and traveled to Rock Bridge Arch (the best ** of all the arches that we have seen other than the snow on top of Natural Bridge. This one was the most prettiest of them all because the river runs under it/through it and it is just an awesome view and it has a waterfall.
Wednesday: This day we traveled to the Red River Gorge area (the loop drive) and drove through the Nada Tunnel. It was previously used as a railroad to haul logs from timer operations in the gorge. The road up through Red River Gorge is a pretty narrow 2 lane road but the river is nice because it follows you all the way up. We stopped at Gladie Cultural Environmental Learning Center and Historic Site. You can get the nice Red River Gorge Geological Area map there. Our next stops was, Sky Bridge, Angel Windows, and Whistling Arch. These are cool to see also. (On Natural Bridge and Sky Bridge be sure to follow the trail across the arch, around, and down under the arch).
Thursday: We missed Balanced Rock (good) on Monday so we went back to Natural Bridge State Park to view it. It was worth it. It was really neat and situated just like it says, balanced. Then we headed to Grays Arch (good) which is a nice and pretty, easy hike map says .3 mi and it is actually 1.2 mi (fixed on map at cabin). It is a very nice looking arch too according to Don. Then we headed to Hidden Arch (good). It is better to do the loop on this one. We thought it was a great easy/moderate hike.
Friday: CHRISTMAS DAY!! We opened a few gifts then headed to Winchester (13 mi) later in the afternoon and ate at Taste of China. Then we headed to Fort Boonesborough State Park (10 mi) and walked a while then headed back. (Fort was closed for winter). WE HAD AN AWESOME WINTER/COLD/SNOW VACATION.
God Bless,

We had an awesome time. Six of us were very comfortable! Everything was clean and if we forgot to bring something from home, we found that it was here. All enjoyed the décor – and loved talking about the unique items hanging on the walls.
Historic to our family, we watched UK become #1 since 2003. Great Game!!
The campfire pit up the hill was a lot of fun as well. We would love to make this trip and experience a family tradition in the years to come!
Thanks from our entire family……

Thank you for providing such an awesome place to stay away from the world. Everything about the cabin exceeded our expectations and created the perfect environment to relax and enjoy nature. The artwork is truly unique and definitely gave us something to talk about. The fire pit couldn’t be more perfect (the Big Rock spared us from the rain last night). Thank you again for providing your hospitality to make our getaway even more wonderful. Surely a place I will recommend to family and friends.

We had one of our best trips ever to Red River Gorge! The weather forecast called for rain but the days were beautiful. We had a great time hiking with our dog Paco. It did rain after our hike and we were still able to have a fire because the firepit was covered by Big Rock.

We love this cabin! So relaxing. Everything from the rock shelter and fireplace to the Jacuzie and strawberry vines is so charming. We visited the Natural Bridge and took the original trail up, did a round trip ride on the skylift and then walked the balanced rock trail down. It was the perfect mini hike. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing getaway to share.

Nature hurts. A lot. But this fantastic retreat makes it a world better! We relaxed, recharged, and completely forgot city life for a few days. Your cabin might even make a hiker out of this city boy! Our dog has never been happier, and save some noisy neighbors, we’ve never had such a peaceful time. We’re now thoroughly convinced that we must retire immediately and spend every day enjoying our time like this! I’m trying to figure out how to take the rock shelter home with us. Everybody need one of those. (Eying my car’s trunk and wishing it were a few acres bigger). We’ll be back whenever we can get the real world to let its boot off of our necks for a few days, and we’ll look forward to it til then.

PS: Because I’m a Foodie, here’s a few tips for future guests
Thanks for the nice vacation, the cabin was very relaxing. Our friend celebrated his 30th birthday this weekend, and it won’t be one that’s soon forgotten. In the spirit of this cabin, we left some shish-ka-bob skewers in the drawer by the oven, please use them.
A couple of things we learned:
1 natural bridge’s skylift is well worth it. So beautiful.
2 Closest place to buy booze is in Mt Sterling, about 40 miles away. Plan ahead. [actually beer is on hwy 11 only 4 miles from the cabin and the hard stuff is at the package store in Campton just down the road from the grocery store IGA, only 12 miles down the road.]
3 After a good hike, the pool in the Park is priceless. Hint: buy the pass early in the morning.
4 Fishing is close by at Mill Creek lake. Hope you have better luck than we did.
5 Use the fire pit.
6 Enjoy the Hummingbirds in the morning (and evening).
Thanks for the good time!

Big Rock will always bring back wonderful memories for us. It is a great place to just get away for a few days. We really loved the scenic view, art work/decorations and the trail. We wanted to leave a little part of us behind. We left a trivia-on-the-go-game that we really enjoyed playing during our stay. We hope others enjoy it. Thanks for such a beautiful place to stay.

We came to Big Rock for a long awaited honeymoon. We were married 6 months ago. This was the most relaxing week imaginable for both of us! We hiked, swam, and spent tons of time on the wonderful porch. Campton (about 15 minutes away, has alcohol and an IGA for basic needs. We will definitely be back!
Thanks so much. We have wonderful life long memories of our honeymoon here!

How exciting! We have truly found a gem in Big Rock. We loved the cabin from the moment we stepped foot inside. With four children and five adults we wondered how the space would work for us. It was perfect. Just enough space to stay in complete comfort. Between the wonderful comfort food and the many thing to do, we couldn’t have asked for a more fulfilling, relaxing time. Although we wish we would have read this guest book before eating at the lodge. We loved Miguel’s pizza (oh and for those of you who are having email withdraws they have a computer with internet access). The sky lift at Natural Bridge was the highlight of our trip. Oh and cooking breakfast every morning! And the canoe trip! Her is a recipe to our favorite dish…..
Big Rock French Toast
Eggs 6
1.5 c milk
cinnamon
nectarines
strawberries
bananas
texas toast 1 loaf
Slice the fruit & mix together in a bowl.
Beat the eggs, add milk, and as much cinnamon as you like.
Dip the toast in the egg batter on both sides
Cook on griddle until browned on both sides.
Top cooked toast with butter, fresh fruit, & hot syrup. Enjoy!!

We had a great time! The kids loved the “attic” and the hummingbird! The fire pit at Monkey Face Rock was the best thing ever! So peaceful and relaxing!
The sky lift & hiking at the bridge was fantastic – though a little scary with 2 little boys squirming around! Thanks so much for a great couple of days away from it all.

My dad thought it would be funny to borrow a big gorrila suit (furry body). He told us he didn’t feel well & he was going to go to bed. We all went up and were enjoying the camp fire & s’mores when we heard some twigs break. We didn’t know he had a gorilla suit. We all pointed our flashlights towards the big black furry figure and FREAKED!!
Jake, 14,-No human can move a tree like that. We are gonna be famous. I believe all the big foot stories now
Levi, 15-Play dead! This is real.
Lauren, 16 – Why are we not praying! Sheldon you played baseball, take this large log, everyone grab a stick.
Sheldon, 18 – Heck no, I won’t protect you. (as he was shaking and trying to hide) and he said, “Besides, Jacob, 14, runs faster!
Sabrina, 14 – last thing I expected on this trip was to find Big Foot.
Best Trip Ever!
Mon (Stacie), ? – At first I thought my husbands idea to scare the kids with a full body gorilla suit was silly. Juvenile. Not believable. But when the Juveniles (ages 14 – 18, 8 kids) bought into it I had to keep from laughing. Then, as they were really getting scared I started to be concerned. I felt a little guilty even. Then, I worried for my husbands life because 8 teenagers were starting to plan his death! When we came into the cabin my husband couldn’t keep a straight face. We laughed histerically!! We talked about and shared stories for almost 2 hours. Hysterical stuff!
Thanks for letting us rent your beautiful cabin. Great Memories!

We have been enjoying the Gorge area for over 30 years, hiking the trails and enjoying the arches. Staying at the Big Rock Log Cabin has added a special dimension to our experience. It’s so secluded with its own trails and rock features, yet so close to everything in the Park. The cabin is especially cozy and so uniquely decorated with all the comforts of home. We had a great “get away” and look forward to our next visit.

Wow! We love this place. That’s how we started Journal #1 3 years ago this month. Been back many times now and still a joy. Still hate to leave. Mable too. Been here every time. This was the year of yellow dog, meeting you, seeing Big Andy, and always new art. Looking forward to next time.

Second time back. Not the last by far. Love new floor plan, much more open. The art work reminds us of home, it’s an eclectic mess of cultures. We’ve stayed at other places in the area and were disappointed. Your cabin is home away from home.

It is really nice here hiking up trails and stuff. This cabin is cozy with beautiful painting. I wish me and my family could move in. Everything is perfect for us and probably everybody else. Thanks for letting us stay in your cabin. I could say a lot more nice things but I would take up the whole book if I did that.
PS. Thanks Again.

Kenzie Hughes, 7 years old;
This cabin is the awesomest place I’ve been to. There is only one thing I would change and that is the Jacuzzi. I still think it is better than nothing. I like the designs on the walls. What I really like is the trail to the rock and fire-pit. There are good games to play. It is probably the best place for a family vacation. I loved going repellen. The parrot and the water-mellon on the fridge are unique. Pretty much the whole cabin is unique. Thank you for letting us stay at the cabin.

What a relaxing get-away! Every minute was a treasure. A few things to note: 1. no cheese grater or veg. peeler, 2. no apron, 3. this is a dry county.
With the thoughtfulness of all the provisions here – it was a home away from home. All the comforts w/o all the responsibility. I hope this is not our last visit. Perhaps next time it will have rained and we can enjoy the outside fire.
I love the real ferns, the loaded kitchen, the order and cleanliness, the solitude, the porch … the entire atmosphere was exactly what we hoped for.

We had a great time staying here in your cabin! We love it! This is such a wonderful get-away to get some much needed R & R.
We really enjoyed the hiking and sightseeing, wish we could have enjoyed a campfire tho. Maybe next time we’ll be able to because we’re already planning on coming back and bringing family with us.
The map was also very helpful in keeping us from getting lost! We would have liked to have more days but are grateful for ones we did get!
My husband says a hot tub on the deck and a flat screen TV would round it out to perfection! (but if that would raise the price – never mind! ha ha)
In all the cabins we’ve stayed, this one is the best!
Thanks Again, we’ll be back.

We loved our stay at Big Rock, the cabin is so comfortable and the setting so serene.
We enjoyed the silence, something we don’t get at home!
All of the trails and the natural beauty of the area offer a lot to see. We couldn’t take it all in in just four days so we’ll have to come back!
We left a couple of walking sticks on the porch near the chimney, they’re a big help on some of the steep trails.
Thank you for your hospitality John – we’ll be back.

Thank you for letting us stay in your cabin. We had a lot of fun going to the natural bridge and exploring the cabins surroundings. The cabin is very comfortable and cozy, so sleeping was very easy. The art is so pretty and different than at home. We also met a new friend over our stay, a friendly neighborhood dog kept us company for most of the trip. We nicknamed her “Betty” and we had no idea whose she was! All in all we had a very good time with memories to last a life time.

I brought my wife and three girls looking for a getaway and some outdoor fun. We weren’t disappointed; the quiet, the relative isolation, the beauty deep in a blanket of snow, the rocks, the trees, the hills, it is a wonderland. Turns out though that the Big Rock Cabin itself was quite a warm home, too. Quirky in a good way. Eclectic in many ways. Most of all cozy. Everybody wants to come back so we hope to see you again.

This place is truly inspiring in the snow and I’m sure even in the summer. The wonderful evergreens stand tall and proud with their broad branches caked in snow and ice. Tracks are pressed down into the snow and impressions of leaves are left where they have fallen. It was a really, really amazing time. I really hope we get to come back to this breathtaking place.

On December 19th our little family van started down the hill to Big Rock Cabin. Darkness had settled in but as we made our way around the curve slowly, my smile broadened at the sight of twinkling Christmas lights through the cabin window. “They have put up a Christmas tree for us.” That was the beginning of our thrilling week here.
Thank you for the thoughtfulness. I was pleased with the ease and comfort of our stay. The only thing I would do differently next year is pack less! We were well entertained with puzzles and games.
We were blessed with a beautiful fresh snow on Christmas morning too.
Our family will never forget the peaceful, relaxing time we had here and are looking forward to our next stay.

This trip was a surprise and one of the best that I have had in a long time. I have been out here before but that was a long time ago. I truly love it. So quite and relaxing and seeing everything covered in snow was a plus. Made it really special.
We have talked about making this a thing with us and I’ll be more than happy to come back. I really don’t want to leave.
Thank you so so much. This place took my breath away.

Thanks

We had a wonderful weekend at your peaceful cabin, truly a perfect getaway. It was a gorgeous weekend for hiking, and we had a great time on the trails. Thanks for making your cabin dog friendly.

Back again. As usual the hard part is leaving. Hummingbirds returned this week. Lively as ever. This will be the visit with the big yellow dog. Update on that when we return 4th of July. Special trip this time with finally meeting John, learning more Big Rock, and visiting Big Andy. All very special. Looking forward to next trip.

We absolutely loved our stay at Big Rock. The relaxing and home-like feel is exactly what we needed. We will be coming back to share the experience with our sons. Loved the access to the parks and unlimitless hiking. Rock bridge arch and chimney rock were our favorites.

- Stillwater BBQ is a must.
- Do not, no matter now hungry, eat at the restaurant at the lodge at Natural Bridge.
- Eagle’s nest café runs a mean deep-fryer.
- Heretical as this, Miguel’s pizza is really just a place for people watching. The food’s just a sideshow. (That said, it’s still a must see)
Thanks for the nice vacation, the cabin was very relaxing.

Very relaxing. Beautiful weather and scenery. Closure of hiking trails, due to bear, a disappointment, as that was a primary goal of this trip. We found plenty of other tings to do, though.

Very happy to see big yellow dog. Would not get in the car last trip. So happy he adopted Jack @ end of road. Looking forward to return in September.

Thanks for sharing your beautiful cabin with our family! The little ones loved the campfire in the evenings with hot dogs, marshmallows and all. Also loved the many trails and “things” to do like sitting of the porch watching the hummers. Relaxing Days, quiet and dark nights.
As for food places:
- Stillwater BBQ is delicious!!!
- Miguel’s Pizza – well is unique, have had better pizza.

Kenzie Hughes, 7 years old;
This cabin is the awesomest place I’ve been to.
